Hope Lodge - First Thursday of Each Month - Chicken, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes with gravy, Rolls and Cake is served to Hope Lodge residents. Our cooking team meets at church to prepare the meal, and the serving team picks up the dinner, delivers and serves it to many tired cancer patients who are away from home for an extended period of days or months, and are undergoing treatment at Shands. First Baptist Church has had a long-standing commitment to missions—spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to our community, our nation, and our world. We are renewing our commitment to pray for, give to, learn more about, and to be “hands on” in our efforts to do missions.

A percentage of every dollar we receive through our church offerings goes to support missions programs through various Baptist agencies. We have sent individuals and mission teams to places as diverse as Chicago, New Orleans, Miami, Nicaragua, Haiti, Dominican Republic and China!

Of course, our greatest mission field is Gainesville...and we are eager to see all the ways that God will use us for His glory right here at home!

First Baptist partners with the  as the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Florida Cooperative Baptist Fellowship   as well as the Southern Baptist Convention and Florida Baptist Convention for the purposes of missions, education, and helping/healing ministries throughout our state and the world.

We hope you will join in our current missions efforts.

Hands of Joy Deaf Summer Camp, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Each summer, camps are held in Dominican Republic for hearing impaired children. During these camps, the children are involved in many activities within a community of people who share their disability. They are loved, taught God's love and grace, and immersed in a world of shared experiences with others who are hearing impaired. While many of the leaders are deaf, hearing people are also welcome to participate this camp.

Our members who have participated in this camp have reported many positive experiences as they enriched the lives of the non-hearing community in Santo Domingo.

Projects4Haiti, Cap-Haitien, Haiti

Projects4Haiti is a many faceted organization that ministers to the residents of Haiti, particularly in the town of Cap-Haitien. Our involvement has been through the teaching teachers arm of Projects4Haiti. This ministry seeks to enable and encourage teachers, many who are unpaid, to return to the new school year with renewed energy and fresh ideas for providing a more challanging education for their students.

This year one of our FBC young adults will be traveling to Cap-Hatien to participate in a youth leadership camp for Hatian teens. This is a new venture as we support the efforts of one of our own as she goes to help develop young leaders among the youth in this country.

FBC Family Ministries The FBC membership provides volunteers for annual community outreach events such as Vacation Bible School, the Family Fun Day in the spring, Trunk or Treat in October, and many other activities as needed to support the ongoing ministries to families with children led by Pastor Lynn Williams.

Masters Mission Group The Masters Mission Group is a group of men and women who are interested in actively participating in mission activites, educating themselves and the church about missions, providing monetary support for mission projects and collecting food for the Gainesville Community Ministries. They meet on the third Tuesday of each month at the church except during the summer months. All are invited to attend and participate.

Hope Lodge  Each month a hot meal is prepared in the church kitchen, delivered to Hope Lodge, and served to the temporary residents who are recieving cancer treatments. These residents must live 40+ miles from Gainesville and are sometimes "temporary" residents for months at a time. They appreciate a hot home-cooked meal!

North Central Florida Baptist Association  FBC is active in providing help and leadershp for many of the activities initiated by the NCFBA, especially in the areas of reaching out to the homeless in various ways.

Greater Faith Fellowship, Gainesville, Florida  Greater Faith, a new downtown church, ministers to the people in their community by tutoring children, conducting a Bible Study for prison inmates, bridging the transition from prison to community life, and providing a facility where the Bible is taught and preached, and many other outreach opportunities as they find needs. FBC has partnered with Greater Faith since its inception as we learn of needs that we can meet to help them in their ministry.

Thrive Life Church  Thrive Life is a new church who is having a great impact with the downtown homeless population. Each Tuesday evening they distribute sandwiches and words of encouragment to those who live on the streets of our city. FBC is fortunate to be able to join them in their downtown walks, as well as helping to support other projects in which they could use extra hands and resources.

Other Organizations  Other organizations that we often partner with for special projects are: Friends of Children, Gainesville Community Ministries, Family Promise, and St. Francis House.
